Online Exclusive: The Fragrance Foundation Makes 2011 FiFi Announcements

2011 FiFi winners and finalists are announced along with this year’s Hall of Fame recipient.

More than 400 fragrance industry executives enjoyed a breakfast date at the grand ballroom of Manhattan’s Mandarin Oriental hotel Friday morning, April 8, as The Fragrance Foundation hosted the 2011 FiFi Finalists Breakfast, signaling the start of FiFi Awards fever. Rochelle Bloom, president of The Fragrance Foundation commented that it was the largest crowd ever in attendance for the event, remarking that it reflected favorably on the health of the fragrance industry. WABC Channel 7 anchor Lauren Glassberg, announced the five fragrance finalists in each category. In addition, winners were announced in the Editorial Excellence in Fragrance Coverage category and the Technological Breakthrough category.

A special surprise was also revealed: Monsieur Jean Paul Gaultier has been named as the 2011 FiFi Hall of Fame Recipient, and will accept his award at the grand finale FiFi awards event set for May 25th In the Tent at Damrosch Park at Lincoln Center, NYC. The Hall of Fame award is voted on by The Foundation’s Board of Directors and is presented to an individual who has brought extraordinary ingenuity, creativity, dedication and inner resources to bear, not only to their company’s success but to the fragrance industry as a whole.

“Fragrance Superstar of the Year” is a new award category for best fragrance of the year with no restrictions as to male or female or distribution channel. Guests attending The FiFi Finalists Breakfast on Friday, had the opportunity to vote for the final five from a listing of the top 10 fragrances in each category. Attendees at The FiFi Awards evening will then have the ability to vote, on the spot; the winning fragrance will be announced immediately and honored on stage with a coveted crystal FiFi.

Also, for the first time, consumers will be able to cast their vote for their favorite fragrance via the “Consumer’s Choice Award.” More details: www.fragrance.org
